Friends of the Genoa City Public Library

  • The Friends of the Genoa City Public Library, GCPL Friends, is an organization dedicated to helping the library serve the community.

  • Through fundraising and member support, GCPL Friends can support the library through the addition of materials, services and programs outside of the library’s yearly budget.

  • The Friends Annual Book Sale is generally held in August. Book donations, new or gently used, are accepted all year. Please no donations of encyclopedias, magazines, textbooks, water damaged items or VHS tapes.

  • Receipts for donations will be given upon request.

 

History of the Genoa City Friends

On January 7, 1987 the Friends of the Genoa City Public Library were accepted into the National Organization , Friends of Libraries USA by the American Library Association. The Friends of the Library Association was formed in 1979. Afterward a small article appeared in the local newspaper. It read: “At 7:30 p.m. Monday January 19, an organizational meeting of the “Friends” will be held at the Genoa City Public Library. Friends is an organization of anyone who has spare time to help the librarian, read stories, promote the library, help with book sales, assist with library programs, book reviews, demonstrate collections, crafts, etc., and help with fundraising.”
